Graphic Novels in the Classroom and Beyond

By Kristen Johnson
Kristen is a Library Technician at the Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.
She has kindly shared this dramatic display to promote the Graphic Novels in her collection.
Here are her comments:
'I am a member of the Display Group here at the University Library and we
created a graphic novel display that I would like to share. We decided
to create a graphic novel display to promote an under used part of our
collection. We wanted to raise awareness that graphic novels are no
longer found just in the literature section of the library but they are
also in other academic collections like history and science!
Increasingly, graphic novels are an academic area of study and a medium
for presenting educational material. We decided to present our display using a graphic novel layout. We
achieved this by using black duct tape--both economical and dramatic--to
create our frames and we also added speech and thought bubbles to help
to bring it all together'.
